Ultrasonic cleaning is the fastest, most economical and efficient method of removing dirt, oil, grease, rust, flux, oxide film and other contaminants from visible and invisible surfaces. An object immersed inside an ultrasonic cleaner becomes a sound wave conductor and helps clean itself. Most intricate parts may be cleaned without disassembly. The cleaning efficiency of this method is not duplicated by any other available means. Ultrasonic cleaning is the application of a high-frequency sound wave to an aqueous solution or solvent. Ultrasonic Cleaning Step :

Place your disassembled motor boat engine components in the cleaner’s mesh basket. Position them to avoid contact with each other.
Place the parts basket into the heated bath. Cleaning time will vary depending on the condition of the parts but you can start at 40 minutes. Use this time to handle other chores.

At the end of the cycle remove the basket and inspect the parts for cleanliness. If you are not happy replace them in the bath for another run. A caution: do not reach into an operating ultrasonic bath.

When parts are clean, rinse them in fresh water to remove the ultrasonic cleaning solution residue. Allow them to dry and lubricate or oil as needed before reassembly.

 

When should you consider adding ultrasonics to a cleaning process?

Usually, the answer is whenever parts are not getting clean enough using the current method. Ultrasonics become a viable purchase when cleaning issues are negatively impacting productivity, quality and/or the bottom line. Effective cleaning with ultrasonics has been proven in a wide range of industries ranging from microscopic medical devices to reconditioned locomotive shafts, from aerospace parts to parts prior to coating, and more.
