Challenge

A hearing-care and acoustic-service lab maintained reusable ear-tips, vent plugs, shell accessories, wax-filter housings and calibration/sound-probe tips. Skin oils, earwax film, cosmetic residues and fine dust accumulated in vents and mesh seats. Cloth wiping left fibers; solvent wipes damaged soft materials; any thermal process was unsuitable for polymer shells and adhesive-assembled parts. The lab needed non-contact pre-cleaning before manual inspection and validated disinfection elsewhere.

Solution

The lab standardized on an ACMESONIC Ultrasonic Cleaner with no heating: SUS304 small tank, 40 kHz uniform cavitation, low-power semi mode for polymer shells and probe styli, degas mode for filtered mild aqueous solution and a short adjustable timer. Items loaded in dedicated racks — ear-tips and wax housings separated from rigid probe tips — using ambient-temperature solution. Cavitation removed oils and particulate from vent bores and mesh seats without friction.

Outcome

Vent bores, mesh seats and probe grooves were freed of wax/oil without fiber residue. Polymer shells and adhesive parts cleaned with no thermal stress. Pre-clean consistency improved before the clinic's approved disinfection workflow. With no heater and no solvent wipes, fume and material-compatibility risk dropped.
