Spinnerets & Micro-Orifices for Synthetic Fiber Production
Challenge
Spinnerets and precision micro-orifice plates accumulate solidified polymer, additive deposits and fine particulates inside holes as small as tens of microns. Traditional maintenance used high-temperature baking/solvent soaks plus manual needle cleaning, risking enlarged holes, burrs and changed filament uniformity. The plant needed non-thermal micro-cleaning that would not alter orifice geometry.
Solution
ACMESONIC supplied no-heating Ultrasonic Cleaner stations with SUS316L option for polymer-compatible chemistry, 40 kHz for fine holes and 68 kHz for ultra-fine spinneret bores, power-adjustable transducers and degas mode to stabilize cavitation in fresh solution. Spinnerets were immersed in a neutral/alkaline-compatible aqueous agent at ambient temperature; cavitation imploded polymer residues inside each orifice without contact pressure.
Outcome
Micro-orifices cleaned to specification without mechanical reaming or thermal stress. Hole-geometry consistency was preserved, supporting uniform filament denier. Manual needle rework and burr risk fell, while the ambient-temperature process removed heater warm-up and simplified the bench workflow.
