HVAC Expansion Valves, Sensors & Small Brass Fittings
Challenge
An HVAC workshop refurbished thermostatic expansion valves, miniature solenoids, brass adapters and pressure-sensor housings. Compressor oil, brazing flux, cutting emulsion and handling dust lodged in capillary ports, sensor cavities and threaded seats. Solvent flushing reached only exteriors; full disassembly was slow and risked losing calibration shims. A heated bath added warm-up time the bench wanted to avoid for short mixed batches.
Solution
The bench installed an ACMESONIC Ultrasonic Cleaner with no heating element: SUS304 tank, 40 kHz for general small parts and 28 kHz for heavier oil/flux, adjustable power, degas mode for fresh aqueous degreaser and semi mode for sensor assemblies with delicate diaphragms. Parts sat in perforated baskets with neutral aqueous solution at ambient temperature; cavitation carried energy into capillary ports and thread roots without thermal cycling.
Outcome
Capillary and sensor cavities cleaned uniformly without full disassembly. Brazing-flux marks and emulsion films were removed from brass threads. With no heater warm-up the bench saved energy and simplified workflow, while solvent use dropped versus the dip-flush method.
