Ultrasonic cleaning works on the principle of cavitation.
High frequency sound waves are generated and introduced in the cleaning liquid as mechanical energy through a series of transducers fitted on the outside bottom of the Mini Tank and radiating upwards.
The process of ultrasound creates numerous tiny vacuum bubbles
on the cleaning solution, which consequently implode. The energy released when tiny bubbles implode on the surface of the parts exposed to the cleaning solution causes an extremely effective cleaning force to the surface of the parts.
As the temperature of the cleaning solutions is directly related to the cavitational effect of the ultrasonic energy the Ultrasonic cleaners are delivered with built-in electrical heating elements complete with thermostatic controls. In this way an optimum combination of cleaning product (solution), temperature and ultrasonic power can be reached.
Ultrasonic cleaning uses sound waves to create millions of small bubbles in a tank of cleaning solution. The parts to be cleaned are submerged in the solution and as the bubble are formed and “explode” they remove any dirt, grease, carbon etc. This method also works very well. The one disadvantage that I noticed with ultrasonic cleaning is that aluminum parts do not come out of the cleaning tank looking like new. They seem to have some discoloration to them even though they were clean. If you are going to paint the parts then this shouldn't matter.

Water alone has no cleaning properties. The primary purpose of the ultrasonic activity (cavitation) is to assist the solution in doing its job. An ultrasonic cleaning solution contains various ingredients designed to optimise the ultrasonic cleaning process. For example, increased cavitation levels result from reduced fluid surface tension. An ultrasonic solution will contain a good wetting agent or surfactant.
