The Challenge

A specialist optical restoration workshop rebuilds vintage camera lenses from the 1950s through the 1980s. The Solution

Small batches of disassembled components are placed in a fine-mesh basket and immersed in a mild, non-polar cleaning solution maintained at 35u00b0C. The high frequency generates micro-bubbles that implode gently enough to protect soft aluminum and lacquered finishes, yet forcefully enough to flush old grease from aperture blade slots and helicoid threads. A short 6-minute cycle is followed by an isopropyl alcohol rinse and warm-air drying in a dust-free cabinet.

Every component emerges uniformly free of old lubricant and debris, even in locations a swab could never reach, while delicate finishes remain untouched.
