Aquarium Heater End Caps, Filter Impellers & Reef Hardware

Challenge

An aquatics service center maintained aquarium heater end caps, filter impeller assemblies, spray bars, lily pipes, CO₂ diffuser bodies, return pumps and reef-rock display hardware. Algae film, hard-water scale, protein biofilm and calcium deposits built up on impeller blades, diffuser micro-pores and heater-cap threads. Brushing scratched acrylic and glassware; acidic soak removed scale but could not clear biofilm from impeller hubs; heated cleaning was unnecessary for routine maintenance and could affect silicone seals and acrylic clarity.

Solution

The center adopted ACMESONIC Ultrasonic Cleaner units without heating: SUS304 tank, 28 kHz for heavy scale on heater caps and pump housings, 40 kHz for filter impellers, spray bars and lily pipes, 68 kHz for CO₂ diffuser micro-pores and reef fittings, adjustable power, degas mode for fresh mild aqueous solution and semi mode for acrylic pipes and silicone-sealed assemblies. Impellers were removed from shafts; diffusers stood upright in micro-racks; heater caps and spray bars laid in slotted trays.

Outcome

Filter impeller blades, heater-cap threads and spray-bar bores cleaned without scratching acrylic. CO₂ diffuser micro-pores cleared of biofilm, restoring bubble fineness. Acrylic lily pipes and silicone-sealed parts were protected in semi mode. No heater energy, no aggressive acid soak, and a faster routine maintenance cycle.
